Embark on this guided hike to the Arrablaes Crater, in midst of a massive lava field of 3000-hectare extension. You will reach the volcano on narrow path of black ash soils amidst striking basalt structures,. Immerse yourself in the geological history of Fuerteventura when searching for fossils in hidden caves. This area is also of great cultural importance as it was a retreat for the indigenous people. Today it is an important bird’s sanctuary for numerous endemic species and the nesting area of the Canary Egyptian vulture, a species only to be found on the island. Enjoy a picnic at the crater rim with the highest point at 242 m with a breath-taking view. The trip to La Gayria volcano was beautiful.
Nice people, small group.

In January 2020, my husband and I have booked this trip.
It takes place with a maximum of 8 people.
The hike to the volcanic peak La Gayria was very steep, but Christina our tour guide has brought us well to the top. The view was fantastic.
Afterwards we went to the farm of Pepe for wine tasting. First there was a small refreshment composed of tomatoes, goat cheese , olive oil and baguette .
Then we went to the farm’s own wine cellar, where we could taste wines and liqueurs. At the end there was still the opportunity to purchase olive oil wine or liqueur.
Overall, it was a very successful trip.

It doesn’t get any more authentic. It was a wonderful tour that I will recommend to anyone going to Fuerteventura. Open to all questions, information on flora, fauna and how people live…
